Bio
Nathan Ringkamp (b. 2001) is a second-year master’s student at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland, and is an assisting organist at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. At Peabody, he studies with the world-renowned organist and pedagogue Dr. John Walker. Nathan began organ lessons in the summer months of 2019 before initially enrolling as an engineering student at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Changing his major to organ, he earned his Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance in 2023 after studying organ with Benjamin LaPrairie and improvisation with Ronald Stolk.
While in D.C., Nathan offered organ accompaniment and compositions for various EWTN-televised liturgies at the Basilica of the National Shrine. Such liturgies include the Installation Ceremony of Catholic University's 16th president, the Mass of the Holy Spirit, Mass of St. Thomas Aquinas, and the annual Christmas Concert for Charity. He was also the solo organist for the class of 2023’s Baccalaureate Mass with more than 3,500 people in attendance. He previously served as Organist at Saint Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church in Southwest D.C. and was Director of Music and Organist at the National Shrine of Saint Alphonsus Liguori in Baltimore, Maryland. He is currently the interim Director of Music and Organist at Zion Lutheran Church in Baltimore.
Nathan has participated in masterclasses with Thierry Escaich, Paul Jacobs, Felix Hell, and David Hurd. He also participated in the 2023 Yale Summer Organ Week. In 2024, he received the second-place prize in the Albert Schweitzer Young Professional Organ Competition and the Peabody Conservatory’s Donald S. Sutherland Endowed Organ Scholarship. When not in the organ loft, Nathan enjoys biking, golfing, traveling, and visiting family in his hometown of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania.
